Nutrition Course

Certificate in Pacific Nutrition

The course is primarily for Pacific workers, but is open to anyone with an interest in working with Pacific people.  The Certificate is best suited to those already working in their community (paid and voluntary), who are able to advise and support others in making healthy food choices.

 Aims:
  • To reduce the incidence of food-related disorders by providing scientifically-based, relevant and practical nutrition information.
  • To increase awareness of the value and importance of good nutrition for individuals, their family and community.

Benefits:

  • The course enhances the skills and confidence of community workers to be able to disseminate accurate nutrition information to their communities.
  • Successful graduates are awarded the Certificate in Pacific Nutrition.

Delivery style:

  • Designed to provide a 'hands on' learning experience.
  • Based on a community development model and a trainee-centred approach.
  • Providing a learning environment that fosters group participation and co-operative learning is an essential component of the course.

Students are required to:

  • Attend all modules
  • Participate in group work and discussions
  • Complete practical work and assignments
  • Complete all module assessments.
